- No visit to the Peruvian Amazon is complete without navigating the mighty Amazon River, hiking in the jungle, feeding caimans, and encountering exotic wildlife. This immersive day tour combines nature, culture, and adventure. Our journey begins at 8:00 a.m., when our tour guide picks you up from your hotel. First, we’ll visit Nanay and see the largest bridge in South America, renowned for its impressive scenery and breathtaking landscape. Next, we’ll head to Bellavista-Nanay, a bustling area where you can explore local products and typical jungle foods. From there, our boat journey along the Nanay River begins, taking us to the Butterfly Farm. Here, we’ll learn about the butterfly metamorphosis—from eggs to larvae, caterpillars, chrysalis, and finally the butterfly. The farm also serves as an orphanage for rescued animals, providing a safe refuge for species confiscated from illegal traders. After the butterfly farm, we’ll visit a Cocama tribe family. Learn about their customs, traditions, and daily life, enjoy cultural dance performances, and browse handmade souvenirs crafted by women of the tribe. Before noon, we’ll visit the Yagua tribe, a community distinct from the Cocamas. The chief will share the history and stories of this courageous tribe, followed by interactive dances where you are invited to participate. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn traditional skills, such as using the blowgun. Lunch is served aboard the Mighty Amazon River, featuring traditional Amazonian cuisine while you may spot pink river dolphins near the confluence of the Nanay and Amazon rivers. Our adventure continues at Fundo Pedrito, a fish farm where you can feed caimans, piranhas, and the giant Paiche (Arapaima gigas), the largest freshwater fish in the world. You’ll also see the giant Victoria amazonica lily pads, one of the Amazon’s natural wonders. Finally, we’ll visit Independencia Village for a jungle hike to the majestic Ceiba tree, which can reach up to 30 meters in height with roots spreading up to 50 meters. The tour concludes with a return to Iquitos before sunset, completing a full day of Amazonian wildlife, indigenous culture, and jungle exploration.
