Day One: Our journey begins at 8:00 am. One of our expert guides, accompanied by our driver, will pick you up from your hotel or the airport. A 1.5-hour drive will take us to the city of Nauta, the only city connected to Iquitos by road. Upon arrival in Nauta, a comfortable and typical boat will be waiting to take us to the Yarapa Communal Reserve, located in the buffer zone of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, where our Ecolodge is situated amidst a breathtaking rainforest.

Depending on the season and weather conditions, the journey to our lodge takes approximately 2.5 hours. Along the edges of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, we will have the opportunity to admire the beauty of colorful birds, river dolphins, and if we are lucky, a sloth hanging from the branches of Punga trees (Pseudobombax munguba).

We will arrive at the lodge around 1:00 pm. After lunch, we will take a one-hour break before embarking on our first excursion. We will wear rubber boots to explore the primary rainforest, where we will discover giant tree species, various types of palm trees, and search for terrestrial mammals. Our guide will explain the use of seeds in local handicrafts, as well as teach us about medicinal plants and their current uses. We will return to the lodge before nightfall.

Dinner will be served in the lodge's dining room. After enjoying our delicious dinner, we will take our headlamps or flashlights to go in search of caimans. Nearby lagoons are home to these animals, and we hope to capture them, take some photos, and then release them back into their habitat.

Day Two: Our second day promises to be an exciting one. We will wake up early in the morning for a bird-watching excursion. With 449 species of birds recorded in this area, we will try to spot as many as possible during our morning outing. Herons, egrets, macaws, toucans, woodpeckers, seagulls, hawks, eagles, kingfishers, hummingbirds, flycatchers, and trogons are some of the most popular and easily spotted species. However, it's not just birds that we will see. We will also encounter monkeys, sloths, and green iguanas that inhabit the tree tops along the riverbanks. We need to return to the lodge in time for breakfast.

Later, we will visit a nearby community called Puerto Miguel. Puerto Miguel is a beautiful, peaceful, and well-organized community that belongs to the Cocama tribe. Despite having lost some of their ancestral customs, they still maintain interesting traits that our guide will explain during our visit. This will also be a great opportunity to see if any of the locals have a sloth at home that you can hold and take photos with. You will love this little animal.

Lunch will be served in the lodge's dining room. In the afternoon, around 3:00 pm, we will embark on a boat ride along the Yarapa River. Its beautiful black waters will take us to the majestic Amazon River. We will use our typical boats for this activity. Upon reaching the mouth of the river, we will find a great spot to see pink dolphins, which, out of curiosity, swim to the surface, showcasing their beautiful bodies. Our guide will explain the legend of this animal and how its species has been threatened by humans.

We hope to enjoy a beautiful sunset from our boats. We will return to the lodge at nightfall. After dinner, we will go for a walk in the forest in search of giant frogs, tarantulas, snakes, scorpions, and many species of nocturnal insects. Sometimes, we can find mice, opossums, and other animals during the walk.

Day Three: We will take our time until breakfast, and then we will head out to fish for piranhas. It is very likely that we will catch several other species of fish, but our main goal is to catch the fearsome piranhas of the Amazon River. Upon returning to the lodge, our cook will prepare a small dish with our catch, which will accompany our lunch. These are our final moments of our tour in the jungle. It's time to return to the city.
