ISLA BONITA - IQUITOS

- Our Isla Bonita Day Tour begins at 7:00 a.m., when one of our expert tour guides will pick you up from your hotel. We’ll start with a city tour of downtown Iquitos, exploring its historical buildings and landmarks. Highlights include: Plaza de Armas – The main square and heart of the city Iron House (Casa de Fierro) – An architectural gem Main Cathedral Ex-Hotel Palace Casa Morey Ayapua Boat Museum – Dedicated to the rubber boom period, showcasing the history of navigation, explorers, indigenous cultures, rubber tappers, and rubber barons. Learn about the filming of Fitzcarraldo, shot in Iquitos. Next, we’ll walk through the Belen Market, experiencing the local flavors, crafts, and products. Then, visit Pasaje Paquito, an exotic spot known for medicinal plants, aphrodisiac drinks, and traditional beverages. Afterwards, our driver will take us to Amazon Forever Biopark, home to the Amazon Rescue Center. Here, you’ll learn about over a decade of conservation work: Rescue of 54 river manatees (Trichechus inunguis), with 28 released back to the wild Refuge for other species rescued from animal trafficking Explore the aquarium featuring the giant Paiche (Arapaima gigas), the largest freshwater fish in the Amazon, reaching up to 3 meters long. The tour continues with a botanical circuit, where our guide explains the medicinal plants, trees, and legends of the Amazon rainforest. The circuit ends with optional zipline and raft rides for an adventurous experience. Next, we’ll visit the city zoo, home to a variety of Neotropical and endemic animals of the Peruvian jungle. The zoo also features a lagoon with an artificial beach, perfect for relaxation and a swim until sunset. The tour concludes with a return to Iquitos around sunset.
