Day 1 – From Iquitos to the Amazon Rainforest
Your adventure begins with pick-up from your hotel or the Iquitos airport by one of our expert jungle guides. Our first stop will be Bellavista-Nanay Market, a vibrant place north of Iquitos where you’ll discover Amazonian products such as aguaje, suri, jungle fruits, fish, and traditional regional drinks.
After a short visit, we’ll board our boat and begin navigating the Nanay and Amazon Rivers. Here, you’ll witness the incredible meeting of the two rivers — the black waters of the Nanay mixing with the light-brown waters of the Amazon. Your guide will share fascinating insights into this natural phenomenon and the history of the Amazon River.
We’ll continue to Fundo Pedrito, a small ecological reserve where you can see and feed piranhas, alligators, and the giant paiche (pirarucú), the largest freshwater fish in South America. You’ll also admire the Victoria Regia, the world’s largest aquatic plant.
Afterwards, we’ll reach our jungle lodge around 12:30 p.m., settle into your cabin, and enjoy a delicious Amazon-style lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Fundo Neyser, home to monkeys, sloths, parrots, macaws, and even the anaconda. Before returning to the lodge, we’ll head out to spot pink river dolphins while watching a spectacular Amazon sunset.
After dinner, we’ll take a night walk through the jungle, observing frogs, tarantulas, insects, and nocturnal birds under the sounds of the rainforest.
